I’ve cre­ated a bit more space up top to keep wall­pa­per from being too ‘in your face’ and over­power­ing on your desktop. This matches the blue col­ours, which are nice and muted.

Now for some sun­shine dur­ing the cold winter months! Two dark haired babes in sum­mer garb, flash­ing shades — just makes the winter melt away! This was one of the easier Jason Brooks illus­tra­tions to addapt — I just added some white! I did give some spe­cial crop­ping con­sid­er­a­tion to the mobile wall­pa­per, which comes in two flavours.

The back­grounds are back! This new Jason Brooks illus­trated wall­pa­per fea­tures a fant­ast­ic­ally sexy white haired lady and used for the cover of Hed Kandi 87: Twisted Disco, a house music album for the more rave-like, club-type music and was released in 2009. Adapting this illus­tra­tion for wall­pa­per use took a bit longer than the oth­ers, as I had to clear away the back­ground very care­fully, as well as hav­ing to fill in some miss­ing bits, from tak­ing out the lens flares. The loose hair was by far the most dif­fi­cult. I ima­gine tak­ing care of a real long mane like that is, while still quite involving, a lot easier! Here’s the pre­view of the mobile wallpaper:

We return to our reg­u­lar pro­gram­ming. It’s a Jason Brooks wall­pa­per. Based on an Hed Kandi house music album cover. It’s bright and vibrant. Features a chilled out, relaxed babe on a stripy, pink back­ground. It makes a fant­astic desktop or mobile background.

In fact, the music style known as Acid House appar­ently cel­eb­rated it’s 20th birth­day in 2008. Hed Kandi releases its Acid House albums under the Back to Love label. The Hed Kandi album to cel­eb­rate, the Back to Love Anniversary Edition is avail­able from Hed Kandi, and has a very nice cover, but this wall­pa­per is based on the cover of the 2003 album Hed Kandi 32: Back to Love and it is still avail­able too (from Amazon).

To cel­eb­rate their 10th birth­day, Hed Kandi released a very spe­cial com­pil­a­tion album with hits from past present and future. How else could they? The cover is fant­ast­ic­ally under­stated and uses simple lines to con­jure up the won­der­ful feel­ing a really good even­ing can sweep you up in.

Jason Brooks did a great job on this Pure Kandi cover. The subtle gradi­ent made it harder to extend the image for use as a wall­pa­per, but it adds so much that I couldn’t leave it out. The square-screen and wide-screen are cropped only slightly dif­fer­ently this time around, as the com­pos­i­tion lends itself quite well to both shapes.

And for our mobile friends we have, not one, but two spe­cially cropped ver­tical ver­sions! They both have a high defin­i­tion 640×960 res­ol­u­tion, so it’ll look nice and crisp on your mobile!

After a winter break, we’re back with more wall­pa­pers! We’re start­ing off by ful­filling a request from Simon Jobling for a nice dark back­ground. Jason Brook’s work for Hed Kandi is usu­ally bright and vibrant (his work for Virgin Atlantic which the red wall­pa­per is based on had to be toned down quite a bit). Luckily, he’s also done some work for Chanel.

Fashion illus­tra­tion is actu­ally where Jason Brook star­ted off in, work­ing for Vogue and The Independent, before doing the music related illus­tra­tions we all know him from. This piece for Chanel ought to be fairly recent, 2010 I believe. I like the strong lines and almost neon-sign like qual­ity of col­oured lines on the black.

And now for some­thing com­pletely dif­fer­ent. Well sure, it’s still a wall­pa­per. And sure, it’s still based on (a cleaned-up and adap­ted ver­sion of) a Jason Brooks illus­tra­tion. But it’s not based on his work for either Hed Kandi nor Fierce Angels!

Yes, the oppor­tun­ity arose to base a wall­pa­per on his other com­mer­cial work, in par­tic­u­lar Jason Brooks’ work for Richard Branson’s Virgin Atlantic. Given mr. Branson star­ted out with Virgin Records (a record store which morphed into a big music label) it’s quite a nice segue, but it still feels a little blas­phem­ous. That might be because of all the red though.

And boy is it RED! The image was (I believe) part of Virgin’s spe­cial London offers promotion.
